The Patriot Report

Freedom High School Newsletter #22

April 26, 2026
Dear Patriot Family,

This week was filled with moments that truly showcased the excellence, energy, and heart of our Patriot family. Our students and staff excelled in the classroom through engaging instruction, creative reviews, and nationally recognized teaching, while also shining beyond academics through leadership, service, and school spirit.
We celebrated outstanding achievements across campus—from Patriot Scholars and AVID finalists, to state champion athletes, performing arts successes, student‑led Earth Day activities, and a joyful, inclusive ESE prom. Each event reflected the dedication of our students and the unwavering commitment of our staff.
As we look ahead, we begin preparing for end‑of‑year senior activities, including early laptop return opportunities and Senior Close Out on May 15.
I am incredibly proud of our students and staff, Patriots. Thank you for continuing to make Freedom High School a place of excellence, pride, and community.

With Patriot Pride,

Charles M. France
Principal, Freedom High School

Highlighting classroom success and collaboration

Debating Under Pressure: AICE Tournament Prep in Action

In Ms. Angel’s AICE classes, students sharpened their critical thinking skills with a fast-paced, tournament-style debate as last-minute preparation for Paper 1. Students were given just two minutes to organize their thoughts on five different sample prompts before debating a partner head‑to‑head. Winners advanced through multiple rounds, reinforcing quick analysis, clear reasoning, and confident speaking under pressure.
A tournament bracket is drawn on a piece of paper, with names like Kyler, Heidi, and Isabella listed.

Bringing Characters to Life: AP Literature Review in Action

In Ms. Thompson’s AP Literature class, students participated in a creative and engaging review activity known as a “Character Party.” Each student was assigned a character from one of the novels studied this year and selected a representative quote to share with the class. By presenting in character, students demonstrated their understanding of literary voice, theme, and characterization while making connections across texts in a memorable and interactive way.

A Spectacular Night at "The Final Bow: Back to the 80's!"

Congratulations to our amazing Chorus program and their outstanding Spring Concert “The Final Bow: Back to the 80’s!” Our talented students took us on a neon-drenched trip down memory lane last week with their incredible performance. From the high-energy opening of Gloria Estefan’s "Get on Your Feet" to the soulful, show-stopping finale of Prince’s "Purple Rain," the stage was alive with talent.
The evening showcased a stunning range of abilities, featuring spotlight solos and duets from the catalogs of Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, and Rocío Dúrcal. Our choirs further electrified the room with hits by Whitney Houston, Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, and more. The energy was palpable, with the audience frequently on their feet and cheering after every powerhouse high note!
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our families for your dedication and for allowing your children to participate in our Choir and Performing Arts programs here at Freedom High School.
Music education is more than just learning notes; it builds confidence, fosters discipline, and provides a vital creative outlet for students. Seeing our performers shine on stage reminds us of the immense value the arts bring to a well-rounded education.

Bursting with energy, they truly lit up the stage and had the crowd on its feet from start to finish. Their passion, precision, and school spirit were on full display—and these Patriots made us incredibly proud! 💙❤️🔥

Patriot Pride: Student Connections

Learning, leading, and serving with Patriot pride

Student Connections: Celebrating Earth Day with Purpose

Our Student Government Association (SGA) led a week‑long celebration of Earth Day, engaging students during A and B lunches with meaningful and fun activities focused on environmental awareness. On Monday, students wrote personal environmental promises that were added to a growing Earth Tree. Tuesday featured a free drink station where students could refill their water bottles and promote sustainability. On Wednesday, students participated in an after‑school campus beautification community service project. The week wrapped up on Thursday with a popular Dirt Cups sale made with Oreos, pudding, and gummy worms. Through creativity and service, SGA helped inspire our Patriots to care for their campus and the planet. 🌎💚

Creating Memories: ESE Prom Celebration

Our ESE department did a truly fantastic job creating a special and unforgettable prom experience for our ESE students. The celebration was filled with joy as students danced, sang along to their favorite music, and enjoyed a variety of delicious treats. The excitement and smiles throughout the evening made it clear how meaningful this event was for our students.
A special shout‑out goes to the students and staff members who helped organize and support this wonderful celebration. Their teamwork, compassion, and dedication made the event a success and truly showcased the spirit of our school. This prom was a beautiful example of inclusion in action, and we are proud of everyone who helped make this night so memorable. 💙✨

Leaders in Action: Patriot Pride in the Puerto Rican Parade

Our Leaders in Action (LIA) students had a busy and impactful Saturday that truly embodied leadership through service. Earlier in the day, students proudly marched in the Puerto Rican Parade in downtown Orlando, confidently showcasing umbrellas that represented the provinces of Puerto Rico and celebrating cultural heritage with pride.
Later, several LIA students continued their day of service by volunteering with the Epilepsy Association of Florida during Epilepsy Awareness Day at Walt Disney World. Students assisted with event registration and activities, supported families through translation services, and helped facilitate educational sessions focused on new epilepsy treatments. In addition, some LIA members volunteered at a 5K event at SeaWorld, offering support to participants and event organizers.
Through cultural celebration, community service, and advocacy, our LIA students demonstrated compassion, leadership, and a strong commitment to making a difference. We are incredibly proud of our Patriots for representing Freedom High School with purpose and heart.
