This week, we are especially grateful as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and recognize the incredible educators and staff who show up every day committed to our Patriots’ success. Their passion and leadership truly define who we are.
As we move into the final weeks of the school year, our students remain busy with performances, celebrations, college and career milestones, and important testing. I encourage everyone to stay informed, stay focused, and continue supporting one another as we finish strong.
Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community partners for everything you do to make Freedom a place of pride. Together, we are building a culture of excellence—one Patriot at a time.

We proudly celebrated our Class of 2026 during Senior Sign-In Day as students were recognized for taking the exciting next step in their future plans. Seniors officially signed in to represent their commitment to one of more than 60 colleges, universities, or branches of the military, showcasing the many pathways ahead for our graduates. During this event, we also honored our Top 10 students and Super Scholars, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements and dedication. This celebration reflected the hard work, perseverance, and excellence of the Class of 2026—congratulations to our seniors on this important milestone! We are FREEDOM

We recently celebrated a joyful and meaningful milestone event honoring both our youngest learners and our future educators. We recognized three amazing preschool graduates as they prepare to head to kindergarten, along with 11 high school seniors who have earned—or will soon earn—their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
The celebration was filled with smiles and heartwarming moments, including songs performed by our preschool students and a program thoughtfully guided by our incredible preschool teaching team. A special shout-out goes to Ms. Longstaff, whose dedication supports our high school CDA students, and to Ms. Kamyla and Ms. Cristina, whose love and guidance made the preschool celebration truly special. This event beautifully showcased growth, leadership, and the strong connection between learning at every level.

Our Media Center continues to work hard to promote literacy and student engagement through creative and meaningful opportunities. Recently, students enjoyed a bracelet-making workshop led by a volunteer from the Orange County Library System (OCLS), combining creativity with community partnership. We are excited to share that this collaboration with OCLS will continue next year, giving students even more to look forward to!
We are also proud to recognize Leya Alegi, who was named one of the Top High School Students in April for the Let’s Read, OCPS! contest. Her dedication to reading earned her district awards including Jeremiah’s Italian Ice and Dezerland passes. Congratulations as well to our April Top Readers, whose commitment to literacy continues to inspire our school community.
Additionally, our library reading fundraiser has officially started, offering students another exciting way to support the Media Center while building strong reading habits. Thank you to everyone who continues to support literacy at Freedom—we’re just getting started! 📚✨

Our theater students are buzzing with excitement after receiving brand-new tools made possible by a grant won by Ms. Probst! These resources will play a vital role in supporting future productions, enhancing technical skills, and expanding creative possibilities both on and off the stage. The students are eager to put the new equipment to use as they prepare for upcoming theater projects, and we are incredibly grateful for Ms. Probst’s dedication to providing meaningful opportunities for our performing arts program. We can’t wait to see how these tools help our theater students continue to grow and shine!

Our guitar students delivered a spectacular performance at their end-of-year showcase, wowing the audience with their talent, growth, and musicianship. This year’s event was especially meaningful as it celebrated the largest senior guitar class in Freedom High School history. From confident solos to cohesive ensemble pieces, the showcase highlighted the hard work and dedication of our students throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of our guitar program and our seniors, who leave an unforgettable legacy as they take their next steps beyond Freedom. 🎸🎶 A special shout-out goes to our amazing guitar teacher, Mr. Perez, whose dedication, passion, and guidance made this year’s end-of-the-year showcase such a success.

Patriot Athletics Spotlight

Our students organized an exciting Students vs. Staff basketball game, and it certainly did not disappoint! It was a tight, high-energy matchup from start to finish, with our students playing with skill, determination, and heart throughout the entire game. They kept the pressure on until the very end. However, our staff showed grit and teamwork, refusing to quit and ultimately pulling off a hard-earned win.
A big thank you to Coach Kline, Mr. Murphy, and Mr. Ingram for playing the entire game and bringing the competitive spirit, and to Mr. Gordon for supporting and encouraging our teachers from beginning to end. This event showcased school spirit, sportsmanship, and the strong relationships that make our school community so special.

Freedom High School was proudly represented at our recent Patriot Preview, thanks to the incredible efforts of our club sponsors, athletic coaches, and student leaders. More than 50 clubs, programs, and sports filled our gym, each providing valuable information and welcoming our Future Patriots as they explored the many opportunities awaiting them.
Our team did an outstanding job engaging students, answering questions, and demonstrating the energy, commitment, and school spirit that define Freedom High School. The event offered future students a firsthand look at the wide range of ways they can get involved, lead, and thrive. We are excited and honored to welcome our Future Patriots and look forward to seeing them join us in the 2026–2027 school year!

Preparing with Patriot Pride

As we move into the final stretch of the testing season, it is extremely important for students to stay informed about upcoming testing dates and details. We are wrapping up AICE testing and will soon begin state assessments in ELA, Geometry, and Algebra, along with AP testing.
To ensure a smooth testing experience, students must:
- Bring a fully charged OCPS device
- Bring a valid student ID
- Follow their testing schedule carefully
-
Arrive on time to their assigned testing location
- Check student email regularly, as testing locations and instructions will be shared there
Being prepared and punctual helps create the best testing environment possible. Do your best, stay focused, and show what you know. We believe in you—do your best, Patriots! 💪📘🖊️

As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we invite our Patriot families to take an active role in shaping the future of Freedom High School. Elections for next year’s School Advisory Council (SAC) and Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) are coming soon, and we would love to see more parents involved.
SAC and PTSA are essential partners in supporting our academic programs, planning meaningful events, and ensuring that family voices help guide school decisions. Whether you are new to Freedom or a longtime member of our community, your perspective and participation truly matter.
There are only two more SAC and one PTSA meetings left this school year, making this the perfect time to join in, learn more, and see how you can contribute.
Come be part of the conversation.
Come be part of the Patriot community.
Together, we can make Freedom High School even stronger for every student.
|
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of parents, teachers, students, and community members who work together to support school improvement and ensure that family voices help guide key decisions at Freedom High School. We will be holding elections for the new 2026–2027 SAC board at our May 18th meeting, and we encourage parents to get involved and make a meaningful impact on our school community. |
